my new year

My new year starts off in August, not January. Being a teacher does that to you. New beginnings, new goals, kinda stressful, yet really exciting! So, my first post (in some time) seems appropriate to show off  my little ones on their first day of school.

Valentines and what we have been up to...

Happy Valentine's Day! Hubby gave me these beautiful-smelling roses on my car this morning. I did not see them until I was leaving for work. So, there they are... on my desk at work. I got to smell them all day long and think about how lucky I am.
This little girl had a great day as well with a Valentines outfit and cookies from Meme and Papa, a cute card from her Daddy and her school valentine party. Here is her box she decorated for her school valentines. She is quite excited.

These next two pictures make me want to hit the pause button. Who is this little girl? Is this my little Reesie? She is growing up... This is the outfit she wore the day before Valentine's Day... She apparently had a lot of hearts to go around. Her tights even have little hearts on them. Yes, she realizes that she has two DIFFERENT shoes on... well its the same shoe, but she has two pairs of that shoe. That's her style now. She prefers wearing the two colors. Not gonna fight that one.
Then there is Tillman who has to wear something "Football" or "Georgia Bulldogs" everyday. I have started to tell him that his everyday white socks are worn by football players. Hey, they are called ATHLETIC socks, right? He also loves either wearing a helmet, wearing googles, or walking around with a hockey stick. If this boy does not play some sport when he grows up, I will be SHOCKED!
He has also gotten into the habit of walking in from school in the afternoons and heading straight for the drum set. Not a bad habit to have. :) He tells me that he is going to play the drums, he bangs around for a short while and then walks upstairs.

Maryland, Part 3

My aunt and uncle just bought a home on the Eastern Shore and invited us all to come over the day after Thanksgiving. We all had a wonderful time. It was so nice to spend the afternoon with family... aunts, uncles, grandmothers, GREAT grandmother, cousins... it was so nice!

Getting our kids together for a family picture is utterly IMPOSSIBLE!
It was a hard to get the grands with my mom, Millie...
And even harder to get the WHOLE family.... here are a few takes...
Some of us mulling about...
My out of focus shot... I didn't even post the one that I didn't make the shot in time... and then FINALLY...

My sister and brother-in-law built the best stage... Reese and Tillman loved it.

And the best shot of the trip...

Maryland trip part 2...

Turkey Day! Karen prepared her first turkey and Thanksgiving dinner... it was delicious!  I was very impressed!

The girls helping out with the sweet potato casserole. And below, Karen and Pat carving their first Turkey... Look at that focus and concentration!

 View from the kids table....
 After dinner walk...
 Pajama Party!!!

The following picture is a preview of Part 3... (yes, there is more). We travel to see my aunt and uncle's new home on the Eastern Shore... it's beautiful. I just liked the picture below of Reese laughing at Tillman. See, they do like each other and they get along. And I want to remember the car ride as all smiles... (ha!)

Jingle Jog 2012

Reese & Tillman participated in the Jingle Jog this past weekend. It was really fun. Despite being late (poor planning on my part), we made the Jingle Jog Junior just in time! We started off running and headed down the road. After much anticipation from Tillman saying "RUN, RACE" the previous day, he wanted nothing to do with it. So, Reese and Daddy took off. Reese ran the whole way, a 1K! Hey, that's a great start! We are really proud of her. She was pretty sore today though.
While Hubby and Reese was running, Tillman and I stayed back to cheer the rest of the runners on. Once we saw Reese, we (sorta, kinda) ran back with them. Here is Tillman "finishing."

Maryland visit... part 1

We traveled north during Thanksgiving to see my sister and family. It was an amazing trip! The long drive in the car was worth it. Lily mapped out (above) what she wanted to do with Reese during her stay. Lily drew it all out and wrote the following! So impressed...
1. Do crafts
2. Play upstairs
3. Read books
4. Play on the computer
5. Watch TV
6. Play on the swings
7. Jump on the trampoline
8. Play Pirate Booty (a favorite game of theirs)
Game on!
