We did it!

On my own today with baby Reese and my goal was to go to Publix and pick up some groceries. It was a rainy morning, but I didn't let that stop us. She had her morning feeding at 9:00 am and then I made the decision to go for it. That meant getting both of us dressed, loaded, and out and back from Publix before her next feeding. I know what some may be thinking.... "What is the big deal?" But, I have never done this before alone. There are a lot of logistics to consider, getting the car seat in, do I need an umbrella, don't forget my shopping list, don't forget baby, and what starbucks drive-thru is on the way? Despite a small bout of fussiness early on in the car, Reese was perfect! I was pretty nervous about the whole car seat on the Publix cart (or buggy as some call it) I still don't think I had it right, but I held on to her car seat the whole time. I basically shopped with one hand, throwing items into the cart. I'm going to better examine the next mommy and baby I see in the Publix to see how they operate, maybe take notes, or take a video. But anyway, we did it. Starbucks and all! That was my power-juice. All this and back by her 11:00 feeding! Whew, what a morning.

I could have written this post just 8 weeks ago when I "ventured" out on my own with my son. I jnow exactly how you felt :)

Instead of taking him in the car seat - I use a sling instead. I have a hotsling and he snuggles in while I am able to shop with 2 whole hands! It works for me.

Congrats on the small victory.

way to go, kim!! i'm so proud of you (and jealous, too). i still haven't taken the boys anywhere by myself unless i can walk there. the whole idea of getting that massive stroller into the back of my car keeps me stranded at home.

i'd still like to pop by and bring you guys some dinner. let me know what night works for you. tripper is out of town tonight and thursday, but wednesday, friday or the weekend could work. let me know!!
